Why do you stay in a job you hate??

What can be more stupid than spending 9am-5pm (or longer), Mon-Fri (or more), 48 weeks of the year (or more), for 45-50 years (or more) of your life doing a job you hate????

Some of these, folks even say that $$$ are not important to them?? Really? Money can be the only reason you stay in a job you hate, you are not there because you love it, it is stimulating, fun or rewarding!!

Some of these, folks also say they are staying in a job they hate to support their family? Really, what kind of life/ career do you want for your family?

If you have a job you hate, you will be setting the ultimate example for your kids or your partner, “I am the responsible adult and I do not have the courage to have a career I love-I am in this job to support you”. Your family ends up feeling guilty that you have to do something you hate to support them, you end up resenting them because you are doing something everyday you hate and the worse case scenario, your kids get jobs they hate because they don’t know anything else, they think, because of your example, there is no other option?? Please set the ultimate positive example for your kids and have a career you love, so they do to!!

Some folks say they are staying in a job they hate because they have to pay the bills. Oh really, how hard is it get out of bed, to go to a job you hate, with the only motivation being to pay money to other people and other businesses to pay your lousy, stinking rotten bills?? How well do you think you will perform in a life like that; at work, as a partner or parent, as a friend? Without the motivation of passion, love, reward, having a purpose and making a difference-the great reasons to have a career you love, do you really think you will be a great employee who gets promoted or paid more??

When you are doing what you love, when you have purpose, when your daily achievements make a difference-YOU will grow as a person, you want to learn and improve, you study because it is exciting to learn more about what you love to do. All of these things make you more attractive, smarter, wiser and MORE VALUABLE!! People want to be around you, learn from you and are inspired by you. You will AUTOMATICALLY earn more, be promoted, make more sales and be more valuable!!

Be careful is you are surrounded by people who have jobs they hate. If you have the courage to change your life and have a career you love, most of those people will discourage you with fear;

What if you fail?”
“What if it doesn’t work out?”
“You are too old, too young, too dumb, too uneducated, too fat, too skinny, too tall, too short etc etc etc”
Note: most are fearful of you achieving your goals because it will make their lives look even more pathetic or force them to stop making excuses for not having a life they love!!

Life is too L-O-N-G to spend 50 years of it miserable and unrewarded!!

Have the courage to have the career you have always wanted!!

Advice for your Health: Common Sense and Logic are a great place to start

Who will do it for you the best in the FATBUSTING are of expertise?
Who have you asked for weight loss advice in the past?
Who really knows there stuff?
Who will really understand your personal challenges and come up with the best solutions?

Thousands of people to ask and thousands of places to go for the right advice, who have we been choosing? Interestingly, according to the research, the first place on the list we have been going for weight loss and health information is the Doctor. Books, magazines and “newsletters” come second, weight loss centres are very popular as are health clubs and gyms. The research shows we are also asking our friends or acquaintances what magic weight loss formula worked for them.

Perceived specialists such as personal trainers, naturopaths and weight loss counselors are also becoming very popular sources of weight loss information and advice. We also seem motivated by people who have the body we dream of having. The question is,…“Who knows best and why?”

Before you start any nutritional plan or exercise program, it is a great idea to visit your trusted, Medical Doctor. Have them give you a medical clearance to exercise and get them to check you out for any serious challenges that could interfere with your exercise program. However, please remember the things that restrict your ability to exercise can usually be helped by a specialised exercise program that works in with your challenges.

After the Doctor, the choice for your source of information will usually come from the person you trust the most. However, it is a bit like getting your car fixed or your new house built– there is more to being a marvelous mechanic or a brilliant builder than being a nice person. A nice person who has a lovely personality and treats you like you are a very special client is very important. However there has to be skill, education, knowledge and common sense to back up the friendly smile or your car will crash and your house will fall down. Don’t play with your body!! Cars can get fixed and houses can get rebuilt, you do not want an idiot working on your precious body!!Some points to consider when you are looking for health and fitness advice…

What does your advice giver look like? If the they look unfit, unhealthy, even unhappy or if they smoke, drink too much, take drugs or overeat, maybe you could consider a different source of advice. How can you trust somebody who doesn’t practice what they preach?

What areas of health and fitness is your advice giver qualified in and are they keeping up to date in their areas of expertise? Be wary of personal trainers who give out nutritional advice without any formal training. Be aware of dieticians who give out exercise advice unless they have trained in exercise prescription. Interestingly, your General Practitioner-The Doctor, has had very little training in either exercise prescription or nutrition. The nutrition section of most Medical degrees consists of one, short lecture. Your doctor may not necessarily be the best person to discuss your nutrition or exercise needs with-especially if they are unfit, unhealthy and/or fat!!

So how do you know if “they” know what they are talking about? (And who are “They” ?? How often have you heard, “They say”)Ask lots of questions…
A professional, “Health/body” expert MUST know all the parts of the body and how they work. A person giving you advice about exercise must know all the major and minor muscles used in each exercise, the origin and insertion of each muscle and what each muscle is capable of doing-what action it is capable of. They must know how the muscular and respiratory system works and they must understand what the four macronutrients are and how they are used, stored and burned by your body from mouth to bottom!! A fitness professional who does not know the basics of applied anatomy and physiology is not a professional, they are just a person with an opinion!!

Ask to see their updated qualifications in each area of expertise, check the dates on their certificates and check the place where they completed their education. A reputable education provider will be happy to tell you about and show you the process of how your International Fitness Professional, Personal Trainer, Doctor, Counselor etc. obtained their qualifications. The date on the qualification is also very important and if it is more than 12 months old, ask your professional what update training they have done in the past year?

Most importantly, use your common sense and don’t believe the information just because this person presents as the expert or has a beautiful body. What worked for them may not fit into your lifestyle, your time schedule or your eating habits.

If it sounds to good to be true-It most probably will be!! If the person offering you advice on health, fitness or weight loss offers to sell you some form of magic pill, powder, potion or meal replacement, PLEASE be very, very careful. We do not put on weight and become unfit and unhealthy because there is a lack of pills, powders and potions in our diets and we will never have long term weight loss and exceptional good health by taking a pill or drinking a powder!! AND with a, “Sale” of any product comes a biased interest in the benefits of the product because $$$ are involved.

Look for advice based on REAL science, not the pseudo, ‘Clinical research” kind. Common sense and logic must always be at the top of the advice list and then YOUR; lifestyle, career, time availability, interests, food likes and dislikes. The best exercise program and eating plan is the one YOU will stick to, easily, without hassle for the rest of your life. BEWARE of short term promises and programs-your health, fitness, strength and well-being are 12 week challenge!! The goal should always be…

Health
Energy
Strength
Fitness
And a body size and weight you are happy with LONG TERM!!

You are in control of your life. Your health and well-being is your responsibility and you do have a choice. Do your research an make an educated, common sense base choice so you can have..

A gorgeous body and have a stack of energy to keep up with it!!

Have you ever wondered how much it really costs to have a fat belly?
Did you know you may end up with a skinny financial future because of a fat belly?

Yes, there are massive health costs; a man with a waist measurement of more than 100cm is in the top risk category of coronary heart disease and Type II
Diabetes. Too much fat on your body affects how you feel about yourself, how fast you can move, how well you perform in all areas of your life and even how deeply you sleep and how soooper your sex life is-all WOW things in your life that are hard to put a $$$ on and some of us would say invaluable… BUT financially how much does it cost in $$$ value to be overweight??? Here are some interesting $$$ facts but please know that cutting out all the fun foods (and drinks) you love is not the goal-too many studies to show that people who diet or deprive themselves, end up fatter than the folks who have a moderate, “Normal” eating life-so no fanatics here!!
The numbers below are not done on cutting out take-away food or alcohol, just having a bit less or having them less often. The $$$ amounts are calculated, with compound interest, at the current rate of superannuation from all the major financial institutions and you could play with your own numbers, ask your financial planner to work them out for you or go to the calculator on any of the Financial institution websites…

Takeaway Meals: Most burger, fries, soft drink and a dessert meals are around $10. If you normally have 4 takeaway meals a week = $40
2 take-away meals instead of 4 = a $20 saving every week. If you invest that $20, in a high interest superannuation fund /bank/investment account/fund (10%) because you are not going to touch it until you retire (The same as wanting to be fit, strong and healthy when you retire!!). You will save $1000 in your first year which will give you the $1000 deposit you need to start investing seriously…
$20 a week = $80 a month. Invest $80 a month, with a $1000 deposit, over 20 year = $64 188 in your bank investment account!! (you only invested $21 000 and earned $44 188 in interest). If you do this over a 40 year work life (you will have to work the 40 years anyway) you will end up with $489 287 (you only invested $41 000 and earned $449 287 in interest). If you invest this in the Australian Share market or even just in the banking shares (which have earned an average 13% interest over the last few decades, you will end up with $1 162 642 (over 1.1 million dollars and you would of only invested $41 000 of your own money and earned $1 142 642 of interest)

Alcohol: Based on changing from 14 drinks a week, 2 drinks every night or an average of 7 on each night of the strong-end (weekend) to 7 drinks a week. Average $$$ cost per week for alcohol = $112 ($8 per drink).1/2 the alcohol invest $56 a week = $224 a month. With your $1000 deposit and using the same times and interest returns as before, you would have…$167 618 in your bank/investment account at 10% interest over 20 years (you would of only invested $54 760 and earned over $110 000 in interest) $1 288 537 in your bank/investment account at 10% interest over 40 years (you would of only invested $104 520 and earned over 1.1 Million dollars in interest) $3 016 392 in your bank/investment account at 13% interest over 40 years (you would of only invested $104 520 and earned close to 3 Million dollars in compound interest) This means …
2 less take away meals and 7 less drinks a week and you could have over 4 Million extra dollars in retirement to live free and independently, have great holidays, go shopping, give to your kids or grandkids or give to your favourite charity OR …Instead of the money in the bank creating wealth, you could put those calories in your body and here is how fat you could get…

Instead of the savings in your $$$ in your bank/investment account…here are the FAT FACTS if you put those calories in your body…
2 Take-away meals a week = 3000 calories x 52 weeks a year = 156,000 calories a year x 20 years = 3,120,000 million calories. 1kg of fat = 9000 Calories3,120,000 calories = 346kgs of fat (double this for 40 years!!), you will have to burn off or end up carrying around on your body)
7 drinks a week on average = 980 calories x 52 = 50 960 Calories. 1kg of fat = 9000 Calories. 50,960 x 20 years = 1,019,200 calories = 113kgs (double this for 40 years!!), you will have to burn off or end up carrying around on your body)

The extra Take-away meals + Alcohol =
459kgs extra over 20 years or almost 918kg extra over 40 years????
459kgs (over 20 years) extra to burn off versus $231 806 (10% return over 20 years) extra to spend!!!
459kgs is a LOT of extra exercise, hours and hours and hours to keep that weight under control OR a simple direct debit from your wages to your financial future fund.

And people say it is too hard to be rich and too hard to lose weight??

A very happy TERRIFICDAY (Tues) Angela and Thankyou so much for your email and your feedback,
I love all feedback and treat it as a special gift-regardless of how it is wrapped.

I am not sure why you emailed me but thankyou for investing your time –a very precious thing we all have so little of, to criticise me and what I do. Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou for your honest and open feedback-I appreciate your personal attack on me and my integrity-it helps me grow and to appreciate my happy life.

Obviously my message of professionalism and positivity for my profession of fitness is not for people like you.

If you emailed me to share with me you do not want to study at MAX, I Congratulate you. Research for your education is very important and obviously MAX is not for you and you and not for MAX.

The tough part of studying at MAX is absolutely the acceptance criteria and interview process. We do not accept people who are late, people who are not dressed to a top level, corporate standard and we never accept people who are not passionate about positively changing the health & fitness of their world and a long term career in the fitness profession. Positivity, excellence and passion for your career are all MAX education fundamentals.

Knowing me, you would know, my only goal is to Positively Change The Health & Fitness of the World (both physically and mentally) and I can only do that with superb International Fitness Professionals who are committed to positivity and professionalism-so yes, MAX is very hard to get into and even harder to graduate from. We are making sure we raise the professionalism of this amazing profession. Of course, along with such a HUGE goal will always come criticism, negativity and gossip-I love all three because if we were doing nothing to change our world, nobody would criticise us.

Thankyou again for your criticism and time investment…
Smiles, WOW and HAPPY Stuff from Rowie who is Glowie xx

To my readers, Please meet Tommy-The MAX Auckland- International Career Coach

The feedback for Rowie & MAX…

Rowena,I have read some rather disturbing reviews (and complaints) about Max College of Fitness: Here’s a fairly recent example: (and there are many others)

“My daughter has signed a contract to pay Max college $8800 to do a twelve week personal trainers course with them in albany auckland. She also had to sign an acceptance criteria which gives them the right to ask her to leave the course if she fails to comply, yet with no refunds or release from the contract. The contract binds her to pay $107 per week for the next 78 weeks (she has already paid a $500 deposit), plus penalties of $105 for each late or failed payment, with no right of cancellation for any reason whatsoever. She is only 18years old, but old enough to sign legally without parental consent.

I am very concerned as the Max international college for fitness professionals web site appears to be all hype and marketing and I see little evidence of informative course content. They also portray themselves as being very caring and freindly inviting interested people in for a chat or even a coffee, they greet you with “A super sunny day to you, or A wow day etc” but they get you to sign the most draconian paperwork and contracts I have seen. But I feel they prey on young people who have no experience of contracts, who get taken in by the friendly sales talk and don’t realize what they are signing is so cruel…”

My first impression of the Max Fitness College website was one of ‘this sounds like such hype, hype and more hype and is probably just total BS and after doing some internet research I know I am right! I am not some naive little kid just out of high school, barely 18 or in my early twenties eager to swallow whatever some jumped up, slick salesperson feeds me so I am not going any further. How can you sleep at night?

How are you remembered when you leave?

ALL Feedback is a special gift-regardless of how it is wrapped…Do you sook about it or soak it up, grow from it and even if it is not true, learn more about the person who delivered it??The only reason I have had any success, in any area of my life, is due to the advice given to me by ‘Unreasonable friends’. Kicks in the butt given to me by the most successful business people and business philosophers world wide, as well as, the harsh criticisms and feedback from my gym members, PTclients, students and business associates have forced me up and forward. YES, criticism and feedback may hurt at the time, however the pleasure of doing positive things with my life has made every kick well worth it!!

In my past I have been called arrogant, inarticulate, poorly presented, bad mannered, undisciplined and impossible to give feedback to because I got defensive, justified and laid blame every timesomeone attempted to give me feedback (Help me). ‘Luckily’ for me, I was also taught by my ‘unreasonable friends’ that the only way to learn, grow, and have any success or to make a difference is to, “Treat all feedback as a special gift-regardless of how it is wrapped”. So I set my personal life philosophy… “Regardless of who criticises me, or what they criticise me for, I will learn and grow from every criticism and take full responsibility for ALL of my actions!!” Interestingly, I have now learnt, from more of my ‘Unreasonable friends’ that taking responsibility for other people’s actions is the ultimate in maturity and personal growth-very tough to do and thanks to my “mentors” another huge part of my personal and professional growth.

Now that I have had the privilege of having a career I love and a life of fun, challenge and WOWness, I am often asked to, “mentor” other people. I always say YES the first time. However for me to spend time with someone more than once, and to share the special gifts of success and growth that have been given to me, I only spend time with people who are open to REAL feedback, people who are open to having their butts kicked and people who are serious about applying the disciplines required to be successful. Giving advice is easy, inspiring people to action great advice is IMPOSSIBLE!! ALL of us must be self inspired, self motivated and self disciplined and we must WANT TO change and grow. A kiss on the butt, for what we are already doing, will only keep us doing the same thing-Mmmm that = comfort zone and once you are in there, you will do nothing and go nowhere else!!

My, “Unreasonable friends” and my circle of influence include Richard Branson, Michael Dell, Jack Welch (GE), Steve Jobs (Apple), Louis Gerstner (IBM), Andy Grove (Intel), E.James Rohn, Zig Ziglar, Brain Tracy, Larry Winget, Winston Marsh, KMan and Savvy Steve-yes all friends that you can make too. Everything they have achieved is in a book or on a CD and they are willing to share it all with you!!

The best advice I have ever been given-and I apply daily…Protect your “Circle of Influence” with your life!! Please only spend time with the people who push you to grow and to achieve everyday-stay completely away from the people who want you to stay the same or worse, pull you down or tell you, “You can’t!”Be Somebody who makes a positive difference-EVERYDAY!! Love Rowie xx
